Road Trip Empty
PostSubject: Road Trip    Road Trip EmptyTue Feb 02, 2016 4:23 am

After being friends throughout their entire highschool career, four friends decide to take a road trip across the country. Mark, Annie, Jimmy and Kat all piled into Mark's four door '98 Tahoe, and set out. Going to all of the cliche tourist spots as they went, and buying useless trinkets and apparel for the simplest things, they make their path, starting in Sacramento California, and eventually ending up in a small town in Michigan, either sleeping in the truck, or using various camp sites to stare at the stars for the night. After being fed up with the cramps and backpain from these sleeping arrangements, they decide to get a hotel room. Only however, after the truck breaks down right on the county line. But what they didn't know, was that right around the corner from their cheap motel, there was something that would change their lives for good. A plague outbreak, that turned the deceased, and some living into ravenous freaks of nature. Feeding on any possible pray they could get their gnarly, diseased hands on.

"Should be a good place for the night." Mark says, opening the door to the two bed shitty motel room. He sat his bag down on the old wooden desk that sat in the corner, and turned around to the others as they entered. The place smelled of old mothballs, and slightly fresh linen. It'd had to do for the night. They had no other choice unless they wanted to spend a unbearably cramped night in the truck. "It'll do." Jimmy shrugged, sitting his bag down on the floor and diving to the nearest bed, bouncing on the hard mattress, and then falling into the floor. "Well." He said, sitting up on his knees. "That's totally a good sign." He muttered, standing up and walking to the back of the room, to the small bathroom which reeked of old laundry and something dead.

"It's part of the back water experience," Kat said, grinning at Annie's attempt to hide her face crinkling in disgust. "Yeah. I suppose..." Annie replied, dropping her bag on the desk beside Mark's. She sat down on the bed and Kat plopped down next to her, bouncing Annie into the air. Annie tried to fake a smile while Kat laid back on the bed, honestly ready to just sleep. "And it's just one night," Kat stated, stifling a yawn.

"Yeah, tomorrow you guys can go through the town, and I'll take the truck to the mechanic I saw on the way in here." Mark said, yawning as he walked over and sat down on the unoccupied bed. Pulling out his phone and scrolling through it. "Look at this shit, the zombie craze is back." He laughed, showing the others the video playing on his phone, of a man being shot multiple times and still walking towards the shooters. "Bath salts all over again."

Watching the video Annie frowned and said,"But they're shooting him..." Kat yawned again and replied,"Loosen up, Annie, it's probably just a prank, or a fake video anyway."

"It's probably just blanks. Some idiots trying to go viral." Jimmy said as he exited the bathroom, the toilet flushing behind him. He walked over and fell back onto the couch, yawning. "Anyone else hungry as all hell?" He asked, looking at his phone as well.

Mark shook his head, to the girls, but spiked at the mention of food. "Annie, want to go downstairs with me and see if there's any good takeout places nearby?" He asked, putting his phone back into his pocket and standing up.

"Yeah, alright. Better than staying here." Annie stood up, grabbing her jacket, eager to leave the smell of the motel behind for a while.

Mark nodded, and headed to the door, Jimmy giving him a look, with a grin and raised eyebrows. "Shutup dipshit." Mark muttered, opening the door and letting Annie go first. Jimmy had this obsession, ever since freshman year, that Mark and Annie had a thing. Mark never really thought about it, he just saw her as a really good friend. Kat too. Once they were out on the walkway leading to the stairs, Mark walked next to Annie. "Liking the trip so far?" He asked, trying to start small talk.

"If they don't bring back pizza or chinese, I'm gonna be fukin' pissed," Kat grumbled, closing her eyes to get some shut eye before Annie and Mark came back with dinner.
"Yeah, it's been pretty great. Especially that civil war fort in the middle of nowhere Nebraska or something, that was super cool." Annie seemed to brighten up after leaving the musky motel room, and as she talked small puffs of condensation in the cool night air could be seen, punctuating every word.

"Yeah, I agree. Middle of bumfuck no where and we found something cool." Mark said, laughing as they went down the stairs, to the front office. Mark asked the manager what there was within walking distance, and they were left to decide between chinese, thai, or italian. "Well, whatcha thinking?" Mark asked, as they left the counter and headed towards the street in the direction the places were located.

Annie shrugged. "Chinese sounds like it's closest." The chinese restaurant was in fact, just down the block.

"Sounds good." Mark says, and they continue walking. After ordering their food, he steps back outside to get some fresh air, as the sudden smell of fresh food causes his hunger to grow even more. In the middle of thinking about the dumplings, and egg drop soup he had ordered for himself, he hears sirens go off in the distance, maybe two or three streets over, along with faint screaming.
